EVOLUTION & YOU: Inquiry-Based Unit Design (with faculty feedback)

​In this performance-based assessment for my science methods coursework, I teamed up with another science teacher to build an inquiry-based unit on the topic of evolution. 

We built this unit around the following essential questions:
  • What are the origins of life and humanity?
  • What makes us diverse?
  • How does change affect individuals and populations?
  • What does it mean to be resilient?
We also sought to incorporate elements of effective science teaching such as  argumentation frameworks, NGSS 3-D learning, and real-life relevance, which are indicated throughout the unit with the icons below:
